Re: Removal of rear wheel- hub in stuck on axle

Thanks. That was what I was looking for. I’ve seen several different styles for A’s and V8’s, but I’ve never seen one for T’s.

Removal of rear wheel- hub in stuck on axle

I’m taking the wheels off of my recently purchased 1917 touring to start restoring it, and three came off easily. But the left rear seems to be stuck on the axle taper quite firmly. If it was a Model...

Re: Suggestions welcome- ‘46 runs rough when warmed up

I was thinking I’d go thru the carb again if the coil checks out. It doesn’t seem to be running rich per se; starts very easily hot or cold. Just a quick push of the starter button. I will choke it...

Suggestions welcome- ‘46 runs rough when warmed up

Recently restored ‘46 Mercury with a stock 59A motor. It has about 300 miles on it since it was finished. New issue has shown up recently. When cold, it runs very well. When it gets fully warmed up...

Re: Door gap adjustment-1947

I had the same issue with both doors on my ‘46 Mercury sedan coupe. The leading edge of the doors rubbed on the cowl post in two places… above and below the belt line. I tried the wood block...

Re: Curved vent/oil fill tube for 59AB

Some V8-60 motors had a fill tube that leans forward. Not sure about the diameter though.

Maybe a muffler shop could make something that’ll work???

Re: ID help on Model T bracket and wrench

The bracket is a Model A emergency brake lever that goes thru each of the rear backing plates. Never seen that wrench type before.

1917 touring- door skin removal

What’s the easiest way to remove the skins from the wood door frames on a touring? I see they’re nailed on with lots of small nails. Grind the heads off, or get under the tabs on the skins and pry? I...

Re: Early 1946 Mercury grill surround question

Photo of my recently finished ‘46 below. It has a serial number that is pretty late in the year. A few years ago, I saw a coupe just like it with the ‘46 grill features, and the owner got a bit testy...

Re: fuel pump push rod 59 ab

I recall the lift is supposed to be 0.20”… a bit less than 1/4”.

Re: Wagner Products?

Try contacting Larry Shepard in St. Charles, MO. He just mentioned at last night’s Missouri Valley MARC meeting that he was in contact with Tom Wagner’s widow over next steps, and he did say that Tom...

2x2’s again- power valve questions

I have been following the recent thread about 2x2’s on an 8BA with interest. My ‘53 Ranch Wagon has a EAB motor with Offy heads and Offy intake with two 94’s. Also has a Mallory distributor. It has...

Re: 1946 Gas door bumpers

Pictures from my recently finished ‘46 Mercury. I got the bumpers from Drake. The fit is pretty good. Bumpers are slightly smaller than a pencil eraser and a little shorter.

Re: The loss of a true legend in the hobby-- David Rehor

In 1983, I was just a “kid” of 30 doing my ‘32 Victoria. I was a regular on the phone with Roy N at Dearborn High Point Specialties asking questions and ordering stuff. Once, I had a question that...

Re: Interior trim screws

Not sure about trucks being different than cars, but I thought that Ford switched to Phillips screws after the war. My nice original ‘46 Mercury has all Phillips screws in the interior.

I use waterproof cardboard purchased from an upholstery wholesaler, and like Bob, I glue black plastic trash bags to the backs of them.

Re: Difference with two banjo rear spider gear housing/ring gear bolts

Re: Difference with two banjo rear spider gear housing/ring gear bolts

I’m no expert on fasteners, but my experience with the Marzden nuts in your first photo is that used nuts don’t seem to have much of a “locking” feature after having been installed. I’ve never had...

Re: More head gasket problems

Just a note that if the engine is bored 0.080” or more, you need to use an oversized gasket. Good luck
