Re: Need Help Installing Throttle Linkage 1935 Ford

That's what I do. It is also useful to slip the spring arm off when taking an engine in or out. The arm flips up against the firewall instead of getting in the way. I use one of my pick tools which...

Re: Interesting...

Harsh crowd.
If you look at ALL he pics, you can see the owner having fun with his old truck. What's wrong with that?
Isn't that what we are trying to do?
It did have a Chevy 350 so the swap was...

Re: Bed Chain Bracket needed

I'd say it being an 8' bed does make a difference. My 1/2 ton 41 has a folded pressed steel bracket and the rivets are oriented differently. So unless you can find some good ones a careful repair...

Re: Holley 94 Rebuild - Secondary Carb

I might be wrong on this but I think plugged power valves are more of a race application where the main jets are richer to compensate.
For street applications you can keep power valves in place.
I...

Re: Holley 94 Rebuild - Secondary Carb

That's definitely not a power valve. It is used on later 8BA engines and is to do with vac signal for the advance mechanism. You don't need it on your carb.

Re: Holley 94 Rebuild - Secondary Carb

Tried progressive duals years ago. Gave up and went with both together.

Re: A note regarding research on the FordBarn... Or, Off-Topic as you wish.

I learnt this years ago and it appears to still work.

Using google type what you are trying to find info on into google but use the format shown below. Lets say we want kingpin info.

Re: 1940s Wheels on mechanical brake Drums??

Depending how precious you are on the drums you can grind the raised nubs off. I did this on the back of my Roadster which uses 32 rear drums and 40 wheels.

Re: 1940 Pickup Panel Parts

The square-ish ones are gravel deflectors that fit in the front fenders behind the front wheels. The long crescent shaped pieces fit between the grille and fenders to help channel air towards the...

Re: 59AB Distributer Confusion

Something needs clarifying here. If both distributors are "crab" type (albeit with different caps) then they should both have long snouts on the back. Different adaptors exist to allow mismatched...

Re: How many of you do your own work?

I fitted some brand new tubeless tyres to some wider rims yesterday. Got them on but couldn't inflate them. I took them to a tyre place and they used every trick in the book to get them on. They had...

Re: How many of you do your own work?

I wonder if there is potential for trade bartering between fordbarn members. Trade engine work for upholstery etc. Depends on complimentary skills and location etc.

Re: Off Topic: For those of you who love Magnetos!

Blimey that's quite a machine. I wonder if there is a tipping point where the power to drive it negates the extra power gained by using it.
