Maybe just a really new engine...Is it 50 lb idle cold or also hot? See if you can thread in a manual gauge for a second opinion.

I think some of the confusion comes from the fact that many starter solenoids in common use require a 'hot' connection to the small post to get the solenoid to do it's click and energize the starter....

If you drill and tap the parts for yor special bolts, Then grind out your recesses for epoxy, you might get the best of both worlds. Belt AND suspenders.... Then hit the repair with a cheap Harbor...

I went to the Gold King Mine website... Guy's name isn't Don King, It's Don Robertson. Don King was a fight promoter. :) Don Robertson is a guy who has good taste in cool ol' stuff.
