Re: dual master cylinder

Gonna have to disagree with some of the above math.

1" master cylinder piston travels 1.27" for 1 c.i. of fluid movement.

1 1/16" master cylinder piston travels 1.12" for 1 c.i. fluid...

Re: dual master cylinder

I agree the pedal travel will be longer with a 1" master, but can be used safely with stock Ford pedals if care is taken to minimize floor covering below/around the pedal, and pedal arm bumper...

Re: Which intake to clear generator?

Any "regular dual" intake, early or late, will allow the stock generator location. What intake are you using now, early or late?

Re: Remote oil filter- fill before install

I had forgotten the details and didn't want to bring it up, but thanks for explaining Mark's reason. :)

Re: Remote oil filter- fill before install

I knew Mark for 25 years and think your remarks about him are totally out of place. He isn't around to explain his beliefs, so lets keep the "I know a guy" crap out of here.

As I already...

Re: Remote oil filter- fill before install

Mark always advised me not to pre-fill the filter with his full flow system, and frankly I never saw much time difference with oil pressure rise either way. What I tried years ago is remove the...

Re: Mad electrical

I contacted about Mark 20 years ago and learned about differences between 1st and 2nd gen Ford and GM alternators. I also used much of his rear battery location wiring ideas in my '32 and '40. He...

Re: Newbe question on clutch pedal travel

I would measure the actual throw-out bearing-to-pressure plate clearance by removing the starter plate. You only need about .100" clearance, which should result close to 1" pedal free travel,...

Re: 6 Volt heater motor rebuild

I use a simple polarity-reversing toggle switch with the 6551022 motor in my '40s Ford heater.

Re: Motor City Flathead - Mark Kirby Camshaft Specs

Tatum was a competitive engine builder. IIRC, Crower ground most if not all MCF cams.

Re: 8BA oil pan rear sump mount?

The '48-'52 Ford trucks with the common 3" cast iron 1/2 bell had a rear sump oil pan with a threaded bracket on the lower rear of the sump. Two lower bolts connected the bell through the starter...

Re: Bleed down on vacuum advance question

Keep in mind that diaphragm only works with about a 6" max vacuum level from the loadomatic, so try testing at a lower value.

Re: Distributor for -52 8ba ???

There are two styles of 8BA distributors, aluminum and cast iron, and they use different front covers, so you need to match what your engine has.
It maybe easier to fix what is not working with your...

Re: Need 1940 Coupe seat removal advice

It's much easier to take the seat apart before trying to remove the entire assembly, at least with a split back. Remove the seat backs first, one by one, then lift out the bottom. What's left is...

Re: Hot Rod Works

Back in the '90s, I had Wayne Atkinson modify my '40 rear end for late 28 spline axles, along with his open drive conversion, to be used on my '32. Some time after, his business became Hot Rod...

Re: Motor City Flathead question

Mark generally stamped an engine build number on top of the block between the heads and intake, so look for a MCF followed by a number.
