This may not help because it is a sedan not a coupe. The headliner material comes down behind the hand strap and behind the gray/blue material. In the old days it was called an ankle strap. John

Yes those springs are strong. Just did a front brake on the 46 pickup. With the right tool it is easy. Here is my old Craftsman plier. Plenty of leverage from the long handles.

I am working on a 47 pickup. 3 speed on the floor. When you let off on the gas it pops out of second gear. What does the repair involve? I once saw one that the owner had a bungy cord from the dash...
