In most decent hardware stores you can buy short pieces of tube, but the correct size?
I would be looking in the dumpster at a tractor dealer for a chunk of hydraulic tube.

The shift levers are shorter on the bottom, 32-36 into the slanted shift tower. Vertical shift tower, 37 & up are longer at the bottom, and do not interchange.

The nubs on the bezel line up with the square portion that goes into the fork at the bottom. If you had the whole rod out, you would see a seam on the tube, that should be straight, and line up...

Up until the Japanese invasion in the 70's, I think every car on the road took 5 US quarts.
I worked at a gas station in my teens, we put 5 quarts in without looking.
