My 50 did almost the same thing what I found was generator was charging but not enough rebuild the generator and brought the voltage up to I believe it was @ 7 volts at 1500 rpm problem solved good...

My little trick was to bust out the old defueser with a small doll and then I painted the new bulbs with a red krylon because my dash is red and turned out great still 6 volt

the numbers are on the top of the case that bolts to the front housing right behind the adj. bolt i could see it on the one picture you sent but it was upside down and couldn’t get my pewter to lock...

back in my day working for the cadillac dealer i rebuilt lots and lots of those alt.the amp number is stamped where the adj. bolt is it will read like 63 A. or 85 A and the other numbers will give...

i had that problem on my 50 cpe replaced the Bendix drive gear and it fixed it but just wanted to say that Ggmac is correct in stating about the bracket from the front of the starter to the oil pan...

on my 50 when engaging it would chatter something terrible and also i could feel a vibration and if i kept pushing the clutch in and out while driving it would eventually get better i had that clutch...

i had a similar problem with my50 cpe. after pulling it apart couple times i found the flywheel was shaped like a bowl i took it to a machine shop that machined it on a milling machine came out...

on my 50 cpe i just removed the d shaft and used a slide hammer with a about 3/8 shaft with a hook on the end just kept working in a circle and it came right out. then i took a 1/2 inch drive socket...

don’t know if this will help but i’ve always checked the unit like this take the wire off the sender with key on ground the wire gauge should go to empty open wire goes full this will confirm that...

if you aren’t having problems driving it and only noticed this when the engine is off i’d be checking the fuel your using if it has any ethanol in it that’s pretty much the problem it’s called fuel...

40 cpe i totally understand what you’re saying the relay has 3 terminal on it. Horn. Bat. Switch . so if i ground the switch terminal then the relay will be energize full time the truck has one...

Go to Home Depot get some Oder Ban disinfectant air freshener you can delut it if you want but not to much put in a spray bottle do everything under seats door panels and headliner leave it in there...
