Default zenith carb vs stromberg 97 carb

Which of these carbs is more reliable and less likely to clog.

Less likely to clog? Debris in the fuel system will clog any carburetor.

Do you think it wise to put a fuel filter in the car. Funny , I guess originally these engines had no filter?

your 4 banger has a fuel pump, so yes, I would make up a temporary line with a clear filter just to see if there is any junk in there. If its clean and you don't like the look then put the original line back on
