The "air-cooled" Ford-O-Matic converter has the ring gear spot welded onto the converter front plate.
I personally would not try to burn a ring gear off a converter front plate. If you are thinking of doing that, measure the I.D. of the Ford-o-matic ring gear and compare that with the O.D. of your manual transmission flywheel first to see if it would fit.
