Just a thought. as I recall when I put my 48 back together. there was an issue with the front end where the hood latches down. seems like I had to move the latch area back. it's ben 20 years so...

check the plug gap. too much gap will help cause tracking in the cap. Ben there done that. I have a Mallory. Lots of spark. ouch.

HMMMMMMMM I thought it should get up over 200 give or take a few deg. some time . guess not. Look at a tractor or truck oil temp sometime when it's working. It may be 240 or so.

It all depends on how hard the engine is working. The oil need to get past 212 some time to burn out the water and gas. It can idle for a week and never get the oil hot .220 or so.

If the mtr. mounts and clutch are in good shape you won't need them.

Nothing like a pissin match. Just like back in the day. fyi. I used a set of muffler shop steel packs I think could have ben glass packs ? [ I think about 25 bucks each] they are welded heavy steel....

10 w 30/ change yearly or 2000 mi. I never get the 2000 mi. Have the original bypass filter.Mine is over 15 years old not many miles . I think it's just getting broken in.
