Re: Hotter plug, less carbon?

You're welcome. Just noticed that you are in Colorado. Be sure to tell whoever you get jets from your elevation.

I run a 48 in the middle with 2 blocked off 97's at the ends. Originally I had...

Re: Hotter plug, less carbon?

What kind of linkage, straight or progressive? Had a friend run 3x2 straight linkage. Carboned up so bad that the accumulation of crud broke a valve head off and beat up the valve area as it...

The drill bit for these is a bit with a shoulder that limits the depth of the drill for the step washer to sit into. They are not a press fit, but snug.

Re: Modern Aluminum head question

I have not pulled a head yet where I installed these so I cannot report on the success of my theory, http://www.stefs.com/bandb/products/productpages/washerstep.htm.

My theory is that if I can...

Re: A winning foursome

If you make it down to Ft. Myers, Florida be sure to visit the Edison Ford Museum. They have a documentary movie and lots of info about the annual visit these guys would plan. They have a T that...

Re: A few old pictures to enjoy

Astonishing pics. To see that detail from that time period and not in black and white pics is incredible.

Re: 36 pickup rocker panel replacement

I replaced the ones on my '36 p/u with the epoxy that body shops use now. Used cleco's to hold in place and replace them with counter-sunk pop rivets. I did it this way so that I could clean...

Re: `35 intake manifold - differences in aluminum and years

It does not look to me like you hurt anything that would affect the structural integrity for the generator mount flange. Just for looks, I wonder if you could grind out a small trough along the...

Re: oil plug 59ab

On this subject, how many of you rebuilders drill a .060 hole in that plug for a little extra lubrication for the cam gear? Before anyone says that this will ruin oil pressure, I did it on the 8BA...

Re: 49-53 mercury flathead oil pump help

In my over zealous youth as I tried to get every part in the engine as clean as possible prior to assembly, I put an oil pump together dry. The engine would not turn over when it was finally put...

Re: Electric wiper motor for 36 pickup

Bill, I have used Specialty on a couple of different '36 projects. (found out from searching HAMB site that Specialty may have gotten the idea from English folks about using the cable system.) On...

Re: 296 flathead , 48 strombergs.

I am running a 48 in the middle with the outer 97's dummied up on a .060 over 8BA Ford crank. With the original PV and jets it was way rich so I jetted it down as per Uncle Max's recommendations. ...

Re: New here

Do I detect a bit of a street rod stance to that '37? I LIKE IT!
Also like the black and white, but I bet that pic is neat in color, too.

Re: '36 Ford Radiator removal

Thanks all. I have a 59A in there so the upper water pumps aren't in the equation. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't being cross eyed in estimating this job.

Re: Flathead builders in south Florida?

Well, I've assembled a couple so far that seem to be doing well. But, you are on the wrong coast. I'll be in Naples for a week over X-mas. Get the machine work done and bring it over. I can do...

I've got some clearance issues I am trying to work out with the radiator in my '36 passenger car. So, I'm just asking if it is feasible to remove the radiator out the top without removing the...

Re: Speedway's hi volume oil pump

I did a "home rebuild" on a 59A and put it back together with new rings, cam bearings, SS valves, timing gear using, adjustable lifters, everything to make it a good, dependable engine. It runs...

Re: Speedway's hi volume oil pump

Well, the Mellings is about $80 more, as I recall, than the s/w in the catalog. So, just wondering. Thanks for the replies.

Re: Starter/flywheel problem

Hasn't it been mentioned somewhere before that the small aftermarket starter will work on any of the configurations? Might be the path of least resistance to curing your problem.

Speedway's hi volume oil pump

I do not want to dredge up the Mellings pump controversy again. I was wondering if anyone had tried the Speedway hi-v pump and can attest to the quality and performance. I got a 59A that I would...
