All coils are not equal . I agree that most any condenser would work as long as it is good. The modern style condenser can even be connected to the switch side of the coil (red wire) but must be grounded to work. I use the A&L short proof original style condenser on twelve volt positive ground with a Flame thrower 40.000 volt coil and have had no problems, in going on eight years.
