Like you, I'm finding it more difficult to climb under the dash and remain of any use when I do.
I find it easier to get the rod in pace on the motor, have the switch installed to the instrument panel prior to installing the motor.
Then hook the end of the rod into the switch and finally install
the motor.
Total pita.
