Default Hood Spring

IMG_20260310_173912227_BURST001.jpg

Is there a trick to attaching this spring on my 52 2dr sedan on the hood. I can't strech it that far.

Yes. Bend the spring in your hand and insert quarters or washers between the coils, bend it the other way and insert more, bend it again and insert more. Eventually it will be long enough. When you shut the hood all the washers will fall out on the ground.

Thanks for the response, as I will give that a try. Also, thanks Pete for blowing up the picture.

The Art Doctor definitely steered me right. My spring looks like a bug, but with the washers and just a little nudge with a screwdriver it went on. Now all I have to do is paint it up. IMG_20260312_144754540_HDR.jpg

That washer idea is the cat's meow. Excellent.
