Default Need ‘35 horn parts

Does anyone sell new internals for ‘35 Ford horns?
My external bezel & mounting pieces are beautiful but internal actual horns don’t work. Looks like someone’s been inside & while externally theyre correct internally has a different insides in each? I’d like to find correct new or rebuilt internals for both!

I have several horns from 1935 commercial and trucks. There must have been two different manufacturers as there are two distinctly different internal configurations. Maybe Ford changed the specifications along the way and one is an early style and the other a later style? I'm inclined to believe it's two different suppliers.

One style is complex and includes a capacitor. The other is much simpler in design. The simpler design is attached with bolts while the more complex design uses threaded holes and screws as the attachment method. Maybe someone with more knowledge can add some identification details.

Also, I've heard that the reproduction horns don't work well.

There is a guy in West Bend Wisconsin "The Horn Guy" that has reconditioned horns. His name is Gary Wise phone # (262) 339-0507 he maybe can answer your questions, or he may have the parts you need.

1935 cars (Model 48), commercial (Model 50) and truck (Model 51) all used the same horn assembly. The only difference is the mounting bracket.

Turns out the images in Post #4 are the Schwarze design on top and the Spartan design on the bottom. The Schwarze design came into production in April 1935 while the Spartan design started with the beginning of 1935 production and went all the way to the end of 1936 production for vehicles with horns mounted on the fender.
Here's a better picture of a Schwarze designed horn.

Were you able to make contact with Gary? It has been several years since I got a business card from him at a swap meet, was not sure if he was still working on horns.

Regards,
Brian

Sounds like a "how to tech" post on Harbor Freight or junkyard horn conversions would be of interest.

Brian, not yet. I will when I understand what I have inside my bezels. Each is different! Probly one of each mentioned in post Schrwarze & spartan. Probably would like both the same when I replace guts!

I got a pair of horns from a early 90s Lincoln, took them apart and put the horn parts in the 35 shells. took some engineering but thats the fun, right

I hate incomplete or wrong information especially when it appears authoritative. I'm guilt of doing such a thing in Post 10. I didn't do my homework well enough. I've taken the time to review every scrap of information I have on horn motors and put it into the attached document. There are three types of horn motors for 1935 Fords. There are two Spartan designs - 40-13815 and B-13815-B which were in use for the entire model year. In about April 1935 Ford added a Schwarze design 48-13815. My apologies for any confusion.
