in prep for Hershey this week, I retook some photos of the rear wide 5 drum/hub assy. I didn't realize that the two sides were different. Does anyone know which one is original? On the smooth one (without the ribs) I took a pic of stampings. My AI research seems to indicate that the stamped one is a replacement, although I'm not certain of this. I also saw a post in this string that said that the ribs were on passenger cars? The front and rear are both 12" diameter with 2" face.

I have a complete rear axle, drum to drum, from a 41 3/4 ton. It will probably be a couple weeks before I get back to it, PM me for more information.

Pete, as usual, is just helping us old farts with less than optimal vision by enlarging the photo you posted.

This shows swaging for Model As, probably very similar for newer Fords.

https://www.fordgarage.com/pages/swaging.htm

I have used a holesaw for cutting the old stud.

The link above takes us to an extremely well done tutorial on how all of this brake drum stud swaging is done, along with removal of old studs. The photos are excellent and make the text easy to understand. As long as there is an internet, this type of learning tool will be easily passed down to future ford lovers.

And we can thank Al Gore, correct? Oops, too political. This will probably get deleted. Hope it won't get me banned.

I really appreciate all the help and support everyone here provides! I was very fortunate, and found 4 NOS 12" drums for $150 at Hershey. Grabbed them up quickly! Thanks for the swaging link too, will read and heed!

You will still need the correct studs for the rear hubs. The "Green" Ford parts book will have the correct part number; it is 91D-XXXX for the 3/4 ton 122" trucks. Be patient, they can be hard to find.
