To quickly check your coil ,if you hadn't .On a continuity check with a multimeter put the red probe on the + and the black on the -. If you get a reading its closed or good,if not its an open circuit so no good.

There is continuity. My lights still work, but my horn sounds a little muffled, not strong. Could I have a short in my wiring that is sabotaging the entire system.
The entire car wire harness is less than 10 years old. I bought a high quality wire harness., from New England harness I think was the name. It was very high quality wiring and expensive.

Does your battery cable arc or hear it snap when you put it back on? ALSO you can remove your ground cable and use your multi meter between the cable end and touch the other end to the battery post. IF you get a reading you know you have a open ground somewhere.

no snap heard.
I removed the ground cable from the battery. Now I test for continuity between the ground cable and the positive battery terminal

My starter works fine.

Your not checking for continuity, you need to be checking to see IF there is "voltage" flowing from the battery to ground. Even if you have an open ground, everything will still work as it should Frank. IF you get a reading on your multi meter from the ground cable to the post then something some where is grounding.

Ok, I will also try jumping my key switch, maybe the switch broke and is not turning the car on anymore.

That is an easy test, you can check to make sure you have 6V + going into the switch THEN switch the car on and check the "out" terminal and you "should" see the same voltage.

Step 0 was to check if you had voltage to the input to the coil and if not to work your way through steps. You just said you can't read any voltage "out of the coil" Does that mean no voltage at either the + or - terminal?

I jumpered the key switch and my car amp meter started registering.

Maybe the car ammeter was stuck and jumping the leads freed it up

Now when I press the starter, the ammeter jiggles. I was told this jiggling is the points opening and closing? Is that true? Now maybe the problem is in the distributer itrself?
