Assuming the doors on '41 and '46 Coupes are similar, the attached pictures will show where the handle retaining screw is located. You may have to push the door seal aside to find the access hole. Regarding the handle breaking, is it possible the handle was pulled to open the door before the handle was turned to release the latch? Door handles on new vehicles are pull to open, and that is what people expect is needed. I am always careful when offering someone a ride in my '46, that I open the passenger's door for them, and explain the they need to turn the handle, not just pull.
