Lawson, playing the shame game and poor mouthing is not likely to pull in more donations for your project. Just my opinion.

I'm just telling it like I see it Alan. You know what they say about opinions and anal orifices; everybody's got one, and you're certainly entitled to yours.

I'm not poor mouthing, I'm just stating facts, nor have I said anything I'm ashamed of.

Lawson, pay no attention to those who like making smart a$$, or negative comments on this thread.
On a positive note....let's work together to get your display engine done, with whatever type of signs or plaques you want to use, and then on its way to the Foundation Museum. Let me know in a private message what I can do to help.
I'm hoping to visit the Foundation Museum in Auburn, Indiana, this coming June and would really appreciate seeing your 60hp engine there on display.

Lawson, did you contact the Foundation to see if they might be using a sign shop in the Auburn area that might be cheaper? Doing a search for shops in Auburn it looks like there may be three shops. Do a google search and you will see them. Perhaps they give discounts for the local museums.

A photo should be coming pretty soon. We did a final (hopefully) fitting yesterday.

That’s one word I could never get a handle on. I’ve looked it up and still feel like it’s some kind of double negative thing, so I can never use it.

I've a good luck creating a Word document with a font which looks good. Then I had it printed at the local copy shop on high quality cardstock. Then I made a thin clear plastic cover the same size as the certificate and drilled small holes in the corners. Got the plastic (acrylic actually) sheet at the hardware store. Punched matching holes in the paper and used fancy brass screws to fasten the paper and cover to a slightly larger peice of walnut. This made a very nice certificate. Just an idea for you to consider.
Rhanks Model51, (I know your name as well as I know mine, but age has a way of making us forget a lot of stuff. I do remember corresponding with you a lot in the past about 35-36 commercial cab minutia.

You got me thinking. Something along those lines might just work out fine. I'll start some head scratching and see what I can come up with.

Thanks for your serious input.

Lawson

I agree Dave. I don't see why people have to change the subject of a question so quickly. It is a shame that this simple observation had to degenerate into what it did.

Henceforth, my engine project will not be mentioned. By me at least. I regret ever mentioning it in the first place for what it has degenerated into.

Maybe so, but it's worth it to say what's on your mind.

Lawson-Cox I just priced a simple hand painted car show sign for my deuce sedan and it was 250.00. As for lawyers I have 2 of them for neighbors. The one is one of the leading defense attorneys in the area and he is 500.00 an hr. and the other one is the county attorney and has a private practice on the side and he's 300.00 an hr. I only use the county attorney if I have an emergency. As for the sign they have went from 75.00 25 years ago to the current price. Since I have a sign for the other 30+ cars I've built I ordered the sign.

Krylon32, yep, that's probably what they are charging nowadays. I am talking about close to 35 years ago when I last was able to work. That's a lot of water over the dam.

Lawson would be a lot richer if he charged more for parts. Thanks for the intake, cleaned up fine and fixed a lot of issues. Greg Kirkland
