In a moment of weakness, I was seduced by another orphan. Unfortunately I cannot keep both. The Mercury is being shipped 1500 miles to a 79 yr old gentleman in Florida.
I sincerely appreciate the fellowship and help I've gotten here at the Barn. I was in the garage all evening tying up some loose ends on the Merc and actually felt a little sad. I didn't plan to send it down the road. But I fell head over heels for this Hornet. The A/C and P/S will be nice. Again, thank you very much. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Nice looking Hudson, looks like fun. Be sure and tell the new owner of the Mercury about the barn if he doesn't already know.

The Hornet is absolutely beautiful! I own one of its later descendants (OT 73 hatchback). Your new set of wheels is just stunning.

Look at it this way : It's still a flathead! And 53 ci larger with dual carbs to boot!
I'd have made the change in a heartbeat. |

X2 on what Tubman said. I sure wish that Merc was headed for my garage. Had an uncle that drove nothing but Hudsons till he couldn't find one any more. Sweet ride, specially the TWIN H ! You're forgiven & I AM JEALOUS !

The family name may be different, but they look like cousins to me. Nice Hudson.

Count me as a black sheep, but I prefer the Hornets over the Mercs. The Hornets look like factory lead sleds or customs.

I've grown to like the looks of the '54 Hudson as much as the '48-'50 models, and much more than the iconic '51-'53 models. IMO, the '54 ranks as one of the best automotive styling facelifts ever. A real improvement over the '53 Hudsons, which are pretty, too.
Despite the V-8 fever that was starting to explode at the time, if it was 1954 today, a new Hudson is what I'd want. Sorry you had to say goodbye to the Mercury, though.

Don't think of it as losing 2 doors, but gaining a carburetor.
