Does anyone have a picture or diagram of how the front hand brake cable attaches to the handle under the dash? I have the handle but I don't know if I'm missing parts or what, I don't see how the cable attaches to it. Obviously I don't have a cable to look at either. Thanks!

Thanks Bob, I had seen that diagram this morning, but my handle isn't slotted for a ball like the above one. Perhaps Mercury is different than Ford?

Perhaps my handle isn't what I think it is. I'll post a picture later. It has a handle identical to '49 Ford, but the dash bracket is actually hinged where it meets the dashboard. On the leading edge, where the cable should attach, it has a cotter pin across the front and a small cam for the return spring to fit into.

The 49 Merc is different than the 50/51. It has a lever under the dash that the hand brake control tube is attached to on one end then the lever is pinned to the structure under the dash. The brake cable should have a forked clevis on the end of it that uses a clevis pin to attach to the fulcrum lever.

Thanks! This is what I have. I'm actually adapting it into my A roadster, so I'm trying to figure out what I have to do to make it work and keep the firewall clean.
