Worley Store, est. 1925, overlooking Worley's Bottom at Apache Pass, just north of Downtown, Tx. No kidding! The Sinclair electric pump replace the old visible pump in the 1950s. The store closed down in the early 1970s.
![]() If you're coming from Downtown, you'll have to cross the San Gabriel River using the Worley Bridge, circa 1912. ![]() A friend of mine has a place near there and we just drove over to check it out. Here's some info: http://www.milamcountyhistoricalcomm...spaper_022.php http://www.apachepass.com/ Last edited by Randy; 12-19-2010 at 04:55 PM. |

Dennis and I drove out to see The Grove, TX, at the preview before the auction.
![]() http://www.texasescapes.com/TexasGho...GroveTexas.htm http://www.kxan.com/dpp/news/texas/t...-auction-block http://www.burleyauction.com/auctionschedule.html I didn't get to go to the auction and haven't kept up with what has happened since, but it sure was a neat place for a long time. I was bummed that they were going to auction the contents first and then the buildings, shame to split it all up. Last edited by Randy; 12-19-2010 at 04:56 PM. |

Old knife and scissor shop in Schwertner, TX. I don't know if it's all still inside, but there used to be a Model T engine on a stand that had a pulley with a belt that ran up to a shaft in the rafters that powered all of the machinery.
![]() http://www.texasescapes.com/TexasHil...tner-Texas.htm A buddy and I were out on a drive and stopped for the pics and an excellent 'burger at the Crossroads Cafe!

This was taken in Driftwood, Texas (near Austin). My '39 coupe on location for a photoshoot for "Wired" magazine. I brought my own camera along and snapped this shot.

Here is a picture of my 1935 ford pick up in front of the old Lake county Indiana jail, the one that John Dillinger escaped from in 1934.

Our club from Oakdale went up to the diner one nice evening. Had a great time.
Will have to post a pic of my '39 maroon coupe one of these days. |

I've been to Driftwood, but I don't remember that station. I guess I would have seen the building, but were the pump and signs added for the photo shoot or is that how it is? Cool picture!
