Classic Cars at Classic Buildings Let's see your classic cars in front of classic buildings. Tell us what the building is, where the building is, what you were doing there, and maybe even a link to learn more about it. Maybe we'll want to go there too.
Here are a couple of mine for starters: The Old Abandoned Garage in Pioche, Nevada April 2010 road trip. http://www.ghosttowns.com/states/nv/pioche.html http://i1059.photobucket.com/albums/...2670Rsmall.jpg Horseshoe Mountain Pottery in Historic Spring City, Utah February 2010 road trip. http://sanpete.com/tours/7-spring-city-0-9-mb http://i1059.photobucket.com/albums/...21310094R7.jpg Old Sinclair Garage in Elberta, Utah population 383 January 2008 road trip. http://www.city-data.com/city/Elberta-Utah.html http://i1059.photobucket.com/albums/...nElbertaBW.jpg Manti House Inn (my great grandfather's home) in Manti, Utah Valentine's Day 2009 road trip. http://mantihouseinn.com/ http://i1059.photobucket.com/albums/...rtouchedup.jpg Salt Lake Stock & Mining Exchange Building on the set of "Inspector 42" filming March 2009. This is my 35 pickup parked in a Texaco station, located in Uxbridge, Ma. on West Hartford Ave. The station is hard to find being that it sits back off the main road.
It makes for a great photo shoot for old car buffs. Drive up and ask the owner. Chet/Ma. |
Re: Classic Cars at Classic Buildings http://mydocuments\mypictures\kodakp...1/100_4757.jpgThis is a picture of my 1940 Ford deluxe, 4 door. The gas station was restored in my little town Of Stover, Mo. My plans were to make Christmas cards of this picture. This a great place to take pics.

The guy who owns it sells old gas pumps and signs. Hampshire, Illinois 60140 If you click on the pic, there is the interior of our 38 Chevy pickup, and the inside of an old barn I found full of old car fenders and parts. |
Re: Classic Cars at Classic Buildings Old Henry. It's nice to see a beautiful old 4 door for a change. These were the staple car coming out of FOMOCO down here is New Zealand in the late 40's. We only got those and coupes, but the 4 doors were far more common. for too long these majestic looking cars have been overlooked. you got far more variety of body styles in the "home of Ford".

When I returned to my home town with the newly restored "Merlot" last summer we posed beside; Burgess stand at the Leamington dock; In front of the Jiimaan ferry to Pelee Island in Lake Erie; at the foot of the water tower, at Leamington (home of Heinz Canada, where I worked when I first bought him); and in front of my former home. This was the first time my truck had been "Home" in fifty years.

Henry, isn't Midway a great little town? I don't have any photos of my Fords there, because quite frankly they'd never make it. But I do have a photo from a trip to Utah we took in another old car. I don't know if the building has any significance but it was still neat.

Since quaint gas stations seem popular, here's one that's been restored in Pleasant Grove, Utah. See how many "nostalgia" pieces you can find. http://i1059.photobucket.com/albums/...0513081802.jpg |

Wait, I do have some Ford photos! My car isn't in them because it was parked out of frame.
First we have Rancho Camarillo. It's a late 1890's Victorian-style ranch estate here in the LA area. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camarillo_Ranch_House |

The other one I dug up is The Stagecoach Inn, circa 1876, about 15 miles from the previous photo. This building was rebuilt on it's current location after a fire, and an old schoolhouse also from the era is now located on the property.
