For the do-it-yourselfer, Rustoleum Painter's Touch brand midnight blue is very close for a background color (available from art stores). Model Master brand light ivory makes for a nicely aged look on the letters/numbers and border (available at hobby shops). Don't use the display plate at the CT Motor Vehicle Dept. as a model, the background has turned black from age.
