I can't understand why some one would reply to a question that was four years old.

I think people just see the post and don't notice the date, then reply. I remember doing it once on a post that was very old, and felt stupid for doing it after I noticed the date. Then it started a chain reaction of replies again.

I don't mind seeing that happen.
It brings up something that I probably have missed so I usually find it interesting. Also, there may have been new ideas or something that has been "discovered" to work in the interim.

It appears this whole posting was lost in my computer. Thanks everyone for their input. I found a complete original setup & it is installed & working.
The cylinder leaked so I installed a rebuild kit & it still leaks a bit.

What fluid are people using in these units now?

Original system ? They used trans fluid when these were new. Type A was the original, but Type F may work, but Dexron III is the fluid closest to Type A. POWER STEERING FLUID is not recommended for these units as this tends to cause leaks..
