Re: Block cleaning

Jim, I put my blocks on their nose and use long pics and skinny screw drivers to poke around in the rear crevices. Blowing air helps and if you have a pressure washer, blow that in there. If there...

Re: stainless trim clips '36 grille

Just did a search of 10-32 carriage bolt dimensions. The square shoulder is .185 to .199 and measuring the inside slot of the s/s it looks like about .200. I think 41 may have given me a great idea...

Re: stainless trim clips '36 grille

Thanks, 41. After looking at them, could it be that they are just small carriage bolts?

stainless trim clips '36 grille

I am putting the stainless on a '36 grille not previously drilled for the trim. I think that rather than use the original spring type clips, I would like to secure the trim with those universal trim...

Re: scrap or usable water pumps

I did not even think of the OEM significance. Obviously I am just trying to clean out some parts that I will never use, but I would not want to throw out something that someone might want for a...

scrap or usable water pumps

This is not fishing expedition to get prices or see if someone is interested. I, like most here, have built up a collection of assorted water pumps to be spares if necessary. This is a carry over...

Re: New engine, stuck valve? Run though some ATF?

Is it running too rich? I know a guy that carbonned up the valves so badly because he was running 3X2's straight, no progressive linkage, that a valve broke off its stem and destroyed a valve seat...

Re: 7 blade fan

I have 6 bladed fans on two engines. They cool like crazy and maybe I have gone deaf, but I don't get the noise that others complain about.

Re: Cast Iron Head gasket recommendation?

If Best Gasket makes them for your head, I'd seek those out. Follow their instructions for installation. Myself, I have coated them with the copper spray, KW I think.

Re: New guy with an old truck.

I recommend an 8" rearend, mind you not 8.8 but an 8 that looks just like a 9. They come in a width that you will not have to modify. About the only 9" you can find that are not too wide are from...

Re: Choice of oil pumps

Just to be on the safe side, make sure you check the fit of the pickup basket in relation to the bottom of the pan before you bolt everything up. Sometimes the basket will hang down too far and be...

Re: New guy with an old truck.

Welcome aboard. As you plan your project may I suggest that you study the threads on here about the T170 3 speed O-drive trans and the S-10 trans. You have gobs of room in that old truck where you...

MOPAR's from the '30's is my guess.

Yo Marv, I did not know about different tail shaft housings. Can you tell me what I vehicle I should be looking for to find the short one? The center section of the '36 I am thinking of getting...

Re: F150 trans pictures

Wow, I like it.

Does anyone know if you could adapt the open drive tail piece from '50ish pickup trans for an open drive?

I'm guessing you would need some sort of sleeve coupler on the output...

Re: Ain't a Flathead, but gear heads may like it

"Would love to see the valvetrain."

The gist I got out of it was no valvetrain. Looks like the pistons draw in fuel as they pass a cylinder with an intake port and expel the spent gases when they...

Re: V-8 60 Guys

I know that the torque range for our big flatheads is around 2400 to 2600 rpm. Where is the sweet spot for 60's?

Re: Woodgraining

Look for a place that does water transfer, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIBiG_u0_wA, aka hydrographics.

Ask a gunshop as they use the process to apply camouflage.

Re: quick wishbone question

My feeling is, do not split the wishbone. If you do think that you need to do the splits, then get a later wishbone to use on your set up. The '35/'36 wishbones are really neat and should be...
