Re: Windshield seal

Maybe a seal is cheap to begin with, but doesn't the bill for the fish for them add up quickly? Also, what about shipping? Is everything dry ice?

Re: 8ba into 36 5 Window

I think that you may have fan clearance issues if you use the later set up. I've got an 8BA in my '36 pickup with the later pumps and fan set up with no problems but the fan extension off the...

Re: Parts Source

How did it run before? I think I would unstick the valves by liberally dousing them with ATF and Acetone mixture in the valve valley. Obviously you'd remove the intake manifold to do this. Once...

Re: V-8 60 Guys

Darrell, give us a driving report on the T when you can. I'm thinking of building something like that for the 60 I have. Or, I'll get Zach to send me that midget up above and I'll put it in that.

Re: Bubba Chevy dizzy with vacuum

Thanks Ron and Bubba.

I may not be able to do everything scientifically. Mostly I am using "seat of the pants" quantitative analysis. Ron, I am only running off of the center 48, the outside...

Re: Steering Arm

Jim, I may have one laying about, probably a '36. Let me know. You know my prices are high, though.

Bubba Chevy dizzy with vacuum

Yo Jim,
Got one of your Chevy units in my 8BA with a Petronix and it has been working great for about 3 years now. My mileage, however is in the 11mpg range and I thought I would try to improve it...

Re: Flow problems with eddie meyer head

Is this in a '36 or what? I have an 8BA in a '36 pickup with the '49 type oil hub 6 bladed fan, no shroud, 180 thermostats and it runs at about 175. A 59A in my '36 roadster that has a 6 bladed fan...

Re: Flathead cutaway and casting molds

They better put an air cleaner on that red engine or the internals are going to get grimy.

Flathead cutaway and casting molds

I saw a thread over on the HAMB where Flowmeister and Bruce had posted some neat pics. Maybe they have been on here before, but just in case others like me have missed them, here they are.

Re: Fiber or Aluminum

Another thought while you're in there: take out the galley plug and drill a .046" hole or so for oil to spray the back side of the gears. I think I saw this in one of the Aussie rebuild books and I...

Re: vacuum advance disabled

Besides there not being a port available on the 3x2 set up, is it not a factor that with more than one carb on a f/h there is not adequate vacuum to operate advance or brake? Installing one of...

Re: allen syncrograph / 37 ford

Damn, 400! Where did that number come from? Sounds too low to me. Did you ask to see where they got that number from?

Re: Dynamat and how to use it

Lots of discussion on this over on the HAMB and other sites where guys are looking for much less expensive alternatives. For example, go to your local builder supply store and find some foil covered...

Re: Fuel economy

Kahuna, I talked to Willie and he pulled the old VW trick on you where he snuck in 5 gallons of petrol in your tank at a stop on the way. Next part of the trick is to siphon off 5 gallons from your...

Re: 8BA distributor on 59A engine

40cpe, Speedway 59A style. As I said, I made up a special Chevy distributor with a longer shaft for more clearance with the belt under the dist. housing. That might have been overkill depending on...

Re: 8BA distributor on 59A engine

Here's my set up. I wanted to alternator mounted as low as possible and non-adjustable, so I made up idler pulleys. I machined a longer shaft on the distributor for more clearance above the belt. ...

Re: Fenton Headers

Jim, I had to do a little relieving on the driver side Fenton to get about 1/8" clearance around the '39 box that is in the roadster. I've read some who have milled the mounting flanges a little for...

Re: adjusting 3 / 2's

Phil, you are right to address this issue. I had a friend who ran 3x2 with straight linkage. It ran very rich to the point that it carboned up the valve seats excessively. Finally one valve top...

Re: Primer for acrylic enamel paint?

I do the body work, fillers and primer. With that it can look like an appaloosa. I shoot Nason sealer on all before my top coat to get nice even color for no bleed thru. Scuff sand with some of...
