Re: Brakes Siezing
Possible culprits:
Brake pedal push rod needs adjusting (too long).
Recuperation port blocked in master cylinder.
Pedal pivot tight, preventing pedal from returning fully.
Pedal/pushrod pivot...

Re: 33-34 Tie rod measurement
Unless I am misunderstanding, clearance is clearance. As long as it clears from left full lock to right full lock there isn't a right or wrong figure. For example 1/8" would be enough. The distance...

Re: My flathead started knocking.
yeah, if it's important that it is able to be moved around, just putting it together is probably the best bet. I wouldn't bother changing any gaskets, just bolt it back together and keep the run time...

Re: overheating.. looking for suggestions
I had a French motor in a 46 coupe. That would overheat after a longer drive. The vacuum advance wasn't working, so as that was the only advance available, it had no advance. Running effectively...

Re: Engine sleeve source...
I've bought sleeves from Rockauto before now. There are 2 thicknesses, the thicker one would take a + 30 bore. The thinner one might too.

Re: Adapting hydraulic brakes to 34 spindle
I did this job on my 32. I modified the backing plates by adding weld material and reboring to a smaller size, and redrilling to suit. Can't remember what I did for the inner spacer. One thing I did...

Re: 1941 Pickup spare tire carrier
Looking at the photo it's a relatively simple piece and given that it is hidden from view when in use, I'd have a go at making a reasonable facsimile if I needed one.
Edit: I found mine and it is...

Re: 1941 Pickup spare tire carrier
Mine has fell off hence me not trying to post a pic. The remnants do match the pics above, though. I think they were prone to fatigue failures. Like in the pics above mine also has evidence of...

Re: Lifter won't stay in adjustment.
My experience is that the locking mechanism on the threads loses effectiveness when the bolt is too far in or too far out. There is a part in the middle of the bolt with no threads. The bolt gets...

Re: flathead 8BA
I've never done it but I believe people here have said they have done it. I think people say it is better to pull the tube out. It looks like it is threaded but they are not threads, just a series of...

Re: Axle coupler pin staking
The longevity of the pin depends on the fit of the splines. Any play in the splines will cause the pin to fatigue and break. If we are talking a modified (normally shortened) torque tube and...

Re: Car seized up
As well as the above I would inspect the brake pedal pivots. both at the pedal main pivot and where the pushrod attaches. Have had problems here in the past.
