Re: '40 rear fender rub one side only

It’s unlikely but the transverse spring might not be centered. The bolt that holds the spring together has a square head that fits into a square hole in the center of the rear cross member. It’s...

Re: What top speed translates to maximum revs?

I’ve used this calculator for many years. It’s helpful if you are thinking of a differential ratio or overdrive change. Also it helps if you start thinking about changing tire size....

Re: My "T" is a little gutless!

As Gary said above, try finding the timing sweet spot and then try adjusting the carburetor control under the dash to find the smoothest engine. I do this in low gear so I don't have to be going too...

Re: Can a Ford Model A fix an otherwise ruined day?

I just drove my 29 standard coupe to a meeting of the newly established Monadnock chapter of MAFCA in Keene, NH. It was a chilly 25° when I left but the Autolite heater kept me warm on the 25 mile...

Re: Fuse on top of the starter blows twice.

Re: Rpms tire size and different rear axle ratios graph

38 Coupe, thanks for that comprehensive chart. I have a 26% Mitchell in my 40 DeLuxe with a 4.11 rear end it's interesting to see the rpm drop in overdrive.

Re: Rpms tire size and different rear axle ratios graph

I’ve used this website. Plug in values for tire size, differential ratio, RPM, speed. Plug in any 3 values to get the fourth.

Re: What weight oil should I use - Brand?

Lots of opinions and suggestions but you won’t go wrong either with 15-40 Rotella or any brand 20-50. Chalk up your 10-30 experience as a quick oil change to clean out the engine. Good luck and...

Re: Final Drive ratio, will a 3.25/1 be too steep ??

The 3.25 with the .87 OD gives a final ratio of just under 2.83. Use this calculator and plug in your values to see what RPM you’ll be turning at a certain speed. The tire diameter is the outside...

I’m away from my shop this week but I think it’s a 62 bulb. Check any of the V8 parts vendor's catalogs, they’ll have them listed.
