Re: Tired...Tire

Rest assured these are very high-quality tires. Same thing with our Carrera although they had close to 8000 miles.
My friend that owns the shop told me he sees this frequently.
He believes it is...

Re: steering gearbox oil

Joe, like you, that's all I use. I made a fitting with a grease zerk so I was able to easily fill the box. Then, once full, I'd sway the fitting for the authentic plug.

Re: Tired...Tire

I thought the same thing for many years. So did my friend, Mike, who owns a Merlin Muffler Shop.
Not any more... it IS a real thing.
I own a number of exotic cars that rarely get driven. The last...

Re: Why is it so hard for me?

Hate to tell ya, but it has a lot to do with the "65 years". I've noticed things are becoming tougher to get to and it seems most things are heavier than they used to be. Oh yeah, and remembering...

Re: 35-36 Ford Rear Shocks Test for Rebuildable?

Gary, nearly always, what you have is scrap.

Re: '35 cigar lighter short/falure?

You are missing the fact that these old lighters do NOT pop out. They were NOT designed to pop out.

Re: Gasket Sealant

I tend to use Permatex RTV black, both sides. Thin coat. One side doesn't make sense to me. What if there is a surface anomaly on the side not coated?

Re: '35 cigar lighter short/falure?

Alan is quite correct. The '36 lighter did not pop out.
I have had two fires in the past 50+ years of playing with these old Fords. Both were wiring to the lighter.
During each of my restorations,...

Re: Sticking accelerator pedal

Could be as simple as the throttle linkage spring is weak.

Re: Brakes 1940 Ford

19Fordy, this is very accurate information...
Among other issues, the holes were drilled in the wrong spot and would not allow the fluid to easily (or not at all) return.

Re: Flathead Accessory

Those do look cool. I have had a couple and even though they look cool, well, the reality is, they don't boost the power enough to notice.
These were normally found on buses and larger trucks,...

Re: 40 coupe spar tire

Richard, the business coupe bracing will allow the spare bracket to be mounted on either side. However, the factory was supposed to mount it on the right.
If you look closely at the attached...

Re: Scrapping- ALL my water pump cores Many types

It kind of hurt to come face to face with the harsh reality of where this hobby that I have so thoroughly enjoyed for decades has come to.
It is just more proof that the only thing that doesn't...

Re: Scrapping- ALL my water pump cores Many types

I wish you the best. Your offer is about as good as one could possibly get.

I tried this with water pumps, starters & generators (over 125+), cylinder heads, intakes, even a number of '40 Ford...

Re: Compression

I have had extremely good fortune with Hunts Magneto's. I get their 32mfd. condensers and put them inside a factory "body" to maintain the authentic appearnace.

Re: 38 Ford Woodie - one of the twins for sale

Just moments ago, I saw the ad listed elsewhere. $110k.
Yeah, maybe fifteen years ago. I'd be quite surprised if this one brings $55k.
It's 2026, not 2003.
