Default 33-34 Base Coat Color On Woodgrain Dash?

I recently found a copy of Bob Dunham's book entitled Woodgraining A New Approach and I would like to try woodgraining my 34 dash. My problem is I do not have an original painted piece on my dash or garnish molding to match against for a base coat color. Has anyone out there tried their own woodgraining using a base coat color that closely resembled the color on 33-34 Fords? Having that paint code would certainly help with my winter project.
Thank you

I use red epoxy primer for base coat,it can be altered with lighter or darker primers of the same type to achieve your preference

Here is an original 1934 ashtray. It looks like, to me, that the base coat is about 50% covered with the black.

I just finished mine using a kit from Grain-It Technologies, Inc, in Florida (863) 299 4494. They sell either the whole kit or any component you need. The base coat for 33-34 Fords is called Mahogany MH2 and costs $30 for each spray can. You will need 2 cans for a dash. They offer a lighter color(MH1) and a darker (MH3) as well. Check on the web their demonstration videos, very informative. I attach 2 pictures of my glove box (still has no toner and no clearcoat). The base color turns too dark to me after printing the wood grain but I hope it will look sharper after the clearcoat. The difference in the photos is entirely because of the flash light. Hope it helps. Good luck. Manuel
