I was told that plaining the head on a T is the first step to get the motor a little more power ,What do you think .I just don't want some 4x4 running me over at MPH when I am doing 30 . Ted

Whatever amount you mill off is insignificant to the HP improvement. You are just cleaning up the gasket surface.

Not sure how mild your mild is... My mild includes model A intake and exhaust and a Waukesha Ricardo head... and gearing to take advantage of the above.

They have high compression pistons or cyl'head for that now but you are not really able to use both in the same engine.

Three years ago the late and great Gordon Williams overhauled the engine in my 1924 roadster. At that time I inquired about installing a high compression head. Gordon advised against it. The year before that he rebuilt the rear end. I asked about using high speed gearing. Gordon advised "Don't do it."

My little sweetheart cruises nicely at 45 miles per hour without any high performance "dodads". There's still plenty of throttle left but I don't need it to keep up with traffic on my areas most used arterial roads.

I have made sure everything else about the car is in top mechanical condition, especially the brakes and wheels. A good set of turn signals is a must for lane changing.

Best thing I ever did to my 27 roadster was put a Z high compression head on it. Huge difference. Then I put the 3.00 Ruckstell rear end back in. Big difference in drivability. For running with the 3.63 geared friends though on hilly country it slows a little on hills. I will be putting in the 12 tooth pinion for the 3.25 or 3.33 depending on ring gear. That should be the best all around for me.

Have not had any experience with T engines but when I put a hi comp head on my model A I noted a big increase in gas mileage as well as performance.

The cheapest thing to do is the high compression pistons from Egge Machine in California. You can also shave the head. Run a stock cam for hill climbing.
You'll be happy.
We have a touring car set up this way and it runs great.
