I used a CRC product - Gasket Remover, and spray on paint remover - the epoxy kind. It softens them a bit. Needs to be kept wet, and soak. Used a right angle CP grinder with a 3M Scrotch Brite eon a mandrel, and went along very very carefully and just kissed the surface.

I use a sharp edge putty knife to get under the gasket and carefully scrape it off then the angle grinder with a soft wire wheel
