duel carb fuel pump questions

im wondering if i need to run my fuel pump rod on my 8ba when i go to my dual carbs? also should i just run a block off plate on my offy intake. i have the regular not super dual intake. or should i run a fuel pump stand replacement with a breather. i still have the road draft tube so im not sure wich way to go with this.. im going to be running an electric fuel pump thanks

I believe you can remove the fuel pump and rod. The rod bushing will maintain normal oil pressure. Use a fuel pump block off plate on the stock breather/fuel pump stand.

I stand corrected. You're absolutely right, no breather on an 8ba pump stand.

You can just install a block off plate and and it will be fine, BUT, I like to plug the pushrod hole on the 8BA engine because the pump bushing has a very small piss hole half way down into the main oil line, without the rod in a mist of oil will blow up into the valve spring area and the valve guides get more oil than nessarsary and may suck oil up the guides. While you have the intake off just take a 7/16 block plug and tape it into the push rod hole. You don't have to drive it way down, just snug it up so it won't blow out. Walt

You might consider removing your down draft tube and putting a PCV plug in that hole. There's a guy on the 'bay who offers a nice kit for that. On my 8BA, I installed that and blocked off the front breather. I run an old style breather/filler in the back with the block plug that Walt suggests. Hopefully you have a vacuum source on the 2X2 manifold. Lots of web discussion states that running a PCV prevents the sludge from moisture build up in the oil.
