Default Piston to top of cyl.

Awhile ago there was a thread about pistons not going to top of cyl. I said I would post pic. I installed pistons today, EGGE 3 ring with 4in. crank in this Canadian early 40 block. The outside edge of the piston come just about to the top of the block. Hope pic works. Walt

Damn nice looking for a 71 year old. Too bad an old woman can't be built like that.

Hey Walt,
I used .080 over EGGE pistons in my 49/50 Merc block and could not use the EAB heads.

I also had Merc. pistons hitting head with EAC heads. Same with EAB heads. Got a pair of 8CM and everything worked fine.

Yea guys, I know what you mean on the EAB heads, But I think you'll find the head that are hitting the piston have all been mill some. They are good heads but won't take much milling without flycutting over the piston. I just clayed a set of 38 heads on this engine today wth the EGGE pistons, the customer just had the heads milled and I was hopeing thay didn't take off much. I had .050 clearance in the middle of the piston and .040 on the lower edge of the piston, so I'm going to go with it. I do have to have the valve pockets flycut some. Walt

I had to remove .040" from a set of EAB heads to get the .050" piston to head clearance.
