Problems on route 100 to Macungie
Heard a report last night that there is a problem with a bridge on route 100 and a long detour. This is coming from the Allentown exit going to 222 then turning onto 100. Is it true?
They suggested getting off at the exit before Allentoown Now I can't remember the name of the exit. What say you?? |

I think they said to get off at the Quakertown exit.

Bill, I just checked Navteq traffic and there was nothing about a problem on Rt. 100. Where did you hear this ugly rumor???

I was there yesterday and exited at Quakertown and drove south on 663 following my GPS. Good luck.

The show was really impressive. More pre-war and Brass cars than I've seen anywhere! I'll definitely try to go again next year. Not a huge amount of A parts, and only one new parts vendor (B&B), but I picked up a couple of reasonably decent fenders. Ed, I saw your pickup truck in the show. Looks nice! Doug

Right behing B & B was Bills Model A parts. He is a local club guy and does body work and a lot of model a cars for sale and parts ( one or two barn fulls). It makes it easy when you have an accident because you can just call him and get the used parts paint and be on your way.

Re: Problems on route 100 to Macungie
We took the old way in [back roads ] and everything was fine.Drove rt 100 when we left and yes 1 bridge was out.[ no biggie]. Doug you are right [alot of brass] and "A"s . I think close to 60. I 'll post some pictures on Wed. I think i got a deal in the flea market...A stamped steel light bar not bad for $15.00 [ used in Mid 1930] In New Judging standards. June,July Aug.,and Sept.of 1930 only.[VERY ,VERY FEW Model "A" parts. I want to say THANK YOU to Special Coupe Frank . I left some pictures of my car before i started the restoration on the ground as i left and he caught me before i hit the exit..THANKS Frank. Car took another shower as it started to rain.

Re: Problems on route 100 to Macungie
I went on friday. Not too much in parts. I did get some small stuff. I went out 313, which changes to 663 when it crosses 309. I turned onto 29 at Pennsburg. Then I turned right at 100 in Hereford and followed it to the show.

Re: Problems on route 100 to Macungie
The bridge in question was on PA Rte 100 bewteen Trexlertown and Macungie: the southound span is inthe middle of replacement.
I didn't know this coming-down, and followed the posted detour through Alburtis. Coming back, the northbound lane of Rte 100 over that bridge was open to traffic, and I was able to see the reason for the detour. Local weather reports say we got 2 to 3 inches of rain in a 6-hour period yesterday. (Ugh.) Frank |

Re: Problems on route 100 to Macungie
I believe it, my distributor seized up on the way home on rt.22. Had to change it out and re time it to get going again, and boy did I get soaked. Thanks to the fellow in the 29 pick up that stopped to help just as we finished. Boy are those shoulders on the side of the road are small on rt. 22.
