Default How to repair door hinge bolt holes??

Can anyone tell me how to repair the bolt holes on a 29 CCPU door and frame. I can't seem to get the taper made. Any ideas? The holes are wobled out and I can weld them up and redrill them but how do I make remake the taper to use the original tapered screws??

You need a countersink

The screws are probably 82 degree included angle. You should be able to get one at a good hardware store. Make sure your welds are annealed before you drill and countersink the holes.

You need to make a jig to line up the new holes if you weld things up. Hopefully there is enough of the original hole to center things.

Also a Dremmel or die grinder and stone with the correct angle might work well for this.

The taper that I'm refering to is on the sheet metal side.

Have not done this, just thinking here. Countersink and tap a piece of steel 1/4" thick. Place this behind the sheet metal. Place a screw through the sheet metal into the "die" you made from the steel. Tighten the screw tight. Tap screw with a hammer to start the metal bending. Tighten the screw, tap, repeat until done.

Like I said I have not done this, but I think that is you were to "over countersink" the steel to account for the thickness of the sheet metal it should work.
