Default Rear end swap questions

I've been running a 9 inch out of a 71 F100 for years. I originally used the 71 Ubolt plates mounted on top of the spring. I'm rebuilding the truck and want to make sure I do it right. I've been told it's not ideal to use the 71 plate with 2 inch springs. I also read Mid 50 sold an adapter kit but I see they are no longer in business. What would be the best most cost effective route. Or, is it okay to leave it like it was? Thanks
