Default Draft Tube

Don't know if this is the place to ask this.

I have a 1955 Ford Fairlane with a 1962 Y-Block in it. I was looking to see if the draft tube has a filter in it. I see the tube comes up the side of the engine and connects to the top back side of engine. There is a small can shape part at the engine held in place with a big phillips head screw Will that contain the filer in this set up? Most things I read about the Y-Block always mention the tube connected to the side of the engine.
