Default 1917 Model T Speedster tool box?

I have a 1917 Speedster I am bringing back to life and I see there seems to be a place to hook on a tool box or something on the rear please help me figure out if that's what it is for or what it is. Thanks for the insight and help!. PXL_20260128_184539210.MP.jpg

The straps are for the gas tank - tool box would have mounted to the rear of the tank.

The small battery is just to energize the coilbox to start.
