Looks like I need thermostats, none provided in the parts that I have, to put the car together. I am not concerned with originality here, you won't see them. Must I get the original style that a vender sells for $110 per pair or can I get modern looking ones from one of the venders for $7.99 each?

Originals (or original types) are always your best bet, they fit as designed for a reason, depending on the "modern" type you get, they "Can" get sucked up into the outlet hose and displaced from the required position.....SO that is always a possibility with certain modern stat's. You can also find original (OR NORS) on Ebay "fairly" easily as well.....BUT where it me, I'd look for the "original" type IF at all possible. JMO

There are some of us who wire the modern thermostats in place. I like to put a piece of stainless-steel pipe into the hose to hold the thermostat against the head. It can be secured with an additional hose clamp.

32 -36 is not the same application as the 37-48. The 32-36 uses a thermostat that is in the
upper hose and an additional hose clamp is needed to secure it in place. |

I checked eBay and found two NOS with proper tangs for $22 each. Original and a good deal.

Do not believe that "new", "NOS", equal "good".

Got it. Will do. My wife gave me 3 old pots "for the car" last week, so they will be put to use.
