The car needs a good washing and the right front fender repaired.

Forlorn? If this Phaeton were for sale today, I'd jump on it like the proverbial duck on a Junebug! What personality!

You know no one could leave it alone. That only comes from experience.

Forlorn Phaeton, meet Wretched Roadster. Sunday is a show at the local Porsche dealer. I’m considering making a sign “Please touch but don’t look” to go alongside all the Lamborghinis.

IMO, that car has in spades something modern cars will never have - honesty. Just as today's politicians don't have it.

They still line up to talk to me! Maintaining order can be tricky.

They're wondering what kind of place I escaped from.

The cute young waitresses look at me and smile. I think they just want a larger tip.

By the way, I did take the Wretched Roadster to the Sunday Socials car meetup. They directed me to park in an empty section next to the Porsche showroom. I felt a bit dismayed that no one would wander over, so far from the other cars. But then an all-black Lamborghini Aventador SVJ (price when new $700k) parked next to me. Then many other Lamborghinis including a brilliant purple one, and some kind of rare roadster. Also a pretty Porsche 356. I had a steady stream of curious onlookers, answered lots of questions, and over the few hours managed to get about a dozen children behind the wheel to have their picture taken by their parents. Oh, and honk the awooga horn. I didn’t notice any Lamborghini owners encouraging people to get in their cars.
As with many of these get togethers, there was a large group of people with video cameras at the ready clustered around the exit lane, to record the super cars accelerate onto the street. The Wretched Roadster got a round of applause and laughs as she chugged away, awooga awooga in place of the others’ ear splitting roars and screaming tires.
