Hey folks,
I think I finally licked all of the cooling issues for my flathead v8 in the old ford. I took her out for a drive and noticed a couple of things though: When I am accelerating it feels like the car is "surging" in gear. As I rev a little higher it evens out, but I feel like I've gotta keep the revs pretty high or I lose power. Any thoughts? Could this be a fuel pump thing? Timing issue? When I let the car idle, or I rev the engine without being in gear I can't hear any misfires or anything. It just ticks along. |

Could it be the clutch slipping?

Worth considering Kelly's clutch thought. I doubt it's related to the ignition system (plugs, wires or distributor) as it would show at high as well as lower PPM's. A fuel pump malfunction or gas contamination would tend to show itself at most and upper RPM's. So if it evens-out at high RPM likely something in the carburetor.
