Default The 46 Woodie lives again!!

My friends 46 woody wagon is just an amazing example of just how enduring these cars can be. It has been in an old barn in Texas for several decades, the last few with no roof over it. A bunch of tinkering and a carb and distributor redo and it runs nicely on six volts!

Added brake fluid, it has brakes! Horn works, many lights work, radio even turns on (no antenna, and I advised him to not try anymore until it gets serviced)

Ive got pics in my album and even a video of it running. He had it blocked in by other cars so they aren’t the greatest but it will give you an idea of condition.

He is looking to sell but neither he nor I have a handle on what something like it would be valued at. It’ll need a full wood restoration and some other metal work due to the roof failing and nobody covering it up. Its not a rot bucket but its far from mint.

I wish I had the funds to restore it but it really deserves a high dollar correct job.

And did I mention he has driven it up and down his street?? What a survivor story! Ill try and get some better pics and video later when he gets it outside again and its not raining! Pics are in my album.

More pictures are needed, especially of the floor pans and rockers. The car needs a complete re-wood and that alone is over $30K and you haven't even started with the mechanical's, glass, paint and interior. After you add it all up, you can purchase a nice car that is already done, probably for less than you would have into it. I would just advertise it as "best offer" and be done with it.

More pics will be forthcoming. Gotta get it out in the sun and get underneath too. I have crawled under it and its not all holes under there.

I realize its pretty expensive to restore properly. I can’t find anything comparable online to judge value from. I do see a few really expensive restored examples. Im more into simpler cars like Model A’s and my Ford GPW but this is way out of my league!

Is the car still in Texas? Location will help finding a buyer.

Woodie values have slid in the past 10 years. Nice examples command higher $$. Watching the various sites with woodies for sale and the same projects, parts, completed cars are on there for a long time.

I bought this for what a complete wood replacement and refinish would cost. That was 5 years ago. Original paint and wood that was refinished by Nick Alexander…

I suggest you join the National Woodie Club (link below). We have a comprehensive website and publish an excellent monthly magazine; advertising (BUY or SELL) is free on both, and you'll get a good idea of current values. From what I see in your post, woodiewagon46 has the best practical advice for you. https://woodies.clubexpress.com/cont...?sl=1058344499
