We have an 6 volt optima battery in a Ford script case, it is 10years old, thinking it will be needing replaced soon, how is the best way to get out of the case, through the top or bottom, or...its a 2HF--- Thanks, J R Parsons, WVa

Generally, the top is a separate piece that should be removeable. I know mine is. Hopefully, the original owner didn't glue everything together.
Since his is a non-standard process, I'm afraid you can expect anything. Give it a good lookover and maybe you can detect what was done. |

Hmmm. OK; I made my own. In your case, I stand by the second paragraph of my last post.

The top will come off. You’ll need to trim the plastic away from the post .

Anybody know who is making the Ford case that takes the Optima battery these days? I couldn't get in touch with the old supplier.

Here is a reply to my last email for them: Yes we do = https://cgfordparts.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=OPT-2HF The battery is made to order and usually take 3 to 4 months for delivery. Shipping is extra. The battery has to be ordered over the phone since it is a special order. If one wanted to buy a 6 volt battery for a 34 Ford and was not concerned about original appearance, what amount of CCA should one look for? Any info. on how many CCA Ford had in their batteries back in 1934? Does anyone know the rating of the wire that goes from battery to starter, e.g. 4 awg or 2 awg or something else?
Any info would be appreciated. |

That's the one. I didn't have enough posts to include links yet.
I should now.

I was thinking about the one with the Ford logos on the sides like Kirk White used to sell. His phone is not working.

That looks like it's specifically for 12 volt conversions. The posts are in the wrong place. I wonder if a 6 volt Optima would even fit without a bunch of changes.
