Default 47 Truck cab inside winshield trim connection

Hello.
I wonder if there was 2 sizes of this part & if so, why? Can anyone shed any light on this part?
Thanks.

It looks like the top piece of the inside windshield moldings for a 42-46 ford convertible.it finishes where the 2 pieces meet. On the bottom there is a shorter piece with same purpose plus it also has a hole for the wiper switch. That’s what it looks like to me.

My '46 has the end of the center trim strip covering the bottom gap. The rear view mirror bracket is attached to the top and covers the top gap.
I installed the rear view mirror, as my truck didn't come with one from the factory. In order to do that I had to remove the cover plate (like the one shown). It's a blank-off piece when not using a rear view mirror. I haven't seen two different sizes of these.
