40 lower grill pan
My 40 convertible was missing this part #01A-8434. Now that I have it, I see that it doesnt cover the entire area between the grill and the radiator. Does anything else go there? There are 2 holes in the trailing edge of this piece. What attaches there? Thanks, Sid

Re: 40 lower grill pan
Sid, You are missing the piece in the attached photograph. Specifically, the one on the bottom of the photograph. The upper pan is for the 60HP, a rarity in a convertible.
There's a nice one on Ebay at this very moment. Item #115675584454

Re: 40 lower grill pan
So, I need this in addition to the part I just bought, or instead of the part I bought? Sid

Re: 40 lower grill pan
In addition to the part you'd already purchased. This goes directly behind your part. Note the two holes in the front of this pan? This is where your pan attaches to the pan you are missing.

Re: 40 lower grill pan
This has piqued my curiosity. Are there any known 60 HP '40 convertibles out there?

Have you driven a 40 with a 60hp? Are they as anemic as a 37 with a 60hp. I have all the original paper work from my granddad when he bought a new 37 Tudor with a 60 and a month later took it back in trade for an 85. He said it was SO anemic it the rear end was constantly bumping the front end to get it moving!!!! Lol |

Re: 40 lower grill pan
I have never driven a 37-40 with a 60hp engine. A good friend of mine has. He said the lack of power was terrible. I have never thought much of the V8 60, however some folks seem to like them. Maybe it a novelty item? I'm way off topic here. Kube has posted good photos and I would suggest anyone that owns a 1940 Ford get the new EFV8 Club 1940 Ford book. Very helpful. As well as the 1940 chassis parts book.

Re: 40 lower grill pan
The pan in question is reproduced. However nice originals are out there as well.
