Antique car and parts auction Oct 27-29 Lynchburg Va.
There is going to be a huge auction in Lynchburg VA the last week of October. Lots of Model A parts and cars. This company thinks highly of their auction when you look at the terms. It would be fun to watch if admission wasn't so high......

Yeah, I know. 15% in person plus $50 entrance fee per day. Like I said, they are highly impressed with their auction.........
I do like the A's they are going to sell. |

This auction is mentioned on AACA. Many of the really rare and cool cars have already been displaced and the more common cars are for sale.
I too agree that these auction companies are nutz with their fees. Not like one can afford to take a family of four to the auction, without going broke. And the bidders fees? forgetaboutit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Helps keep people away. |

They are looking for serious bidders and buyers. Tire kickers take up space and usually aren't interested in buying, just curious attendees. It looks like they have a good collection of barn fresh cars.

This keeps the people that just look, get in the way,run bids up,tie up parking, and create noise talking out. Nothing worse then the locals coming out with their lawn chairs and pets. I will be there all 3 days, I'm a serious buyer. Take Morphys auctions for instance, not just anybody can have a seat in the pit. |

I could handle the admission fee if it weren't for the bidders fee on top of it when you know they are collecting from both sides, the seller and the buyer. With these fees a $10,000 car will wind up costing $12,000 with bidders fee and sales tax..... Not a fan of that.

Wick, before you bid, you already know that ALL of the cars will sell for a minimum of 120%, so guessing you wont be a buyer of any of them- however, Im sure you'll clean up on some parts lots.
For me. auctions arent worth going to, ever. Hershey or Carlisle is another story. |

I'm after parts for my personal collection. I'll also meet some new people that may have a collection of stuff here in VA.

I will quote my recent experiences as a seller and say that unless it is junk that I don’t want, I would not use an auction service. That same car that sells for $10,000 that with the premium cost the buyer $12,000 will only net the seller $7,000 after the percentage and deductions for advertising, set-up, etc. i would as soon give my stuff to someone and avoid the hassle of the auction.

Went down to the preview to this auction last week. Saw some rare cars. I talked with a guy that knew the owner. He said at one time the owner had 1 of every model a body style made. Saw this interesting truck. Hopefully the pics will upload....

that truck is pretty rare, but you'll need 2 people that really want it, to get a super high bid. any guesses???

The online bidding is going on now. I looked yesterday and it was up to $3500. Be interesting to see where it goes. The in person bidding takes place on the 28th I believe.

I spent a few hours Sunday looking at everything, most of the parts have spent a lot of time outdoors.
The scrap man will be busy. |

I assume you went to all the warehouses Wick? I went and checked out the cars Thursday, not too interested in parts.

I did go to the other warehouses, most parts were scattered and mixed up. Roadster pickup body sitting with a T frame, doors were across the room. T wire wheels mixed with A wheels.

Yeah, I wandered around some of the parts and noticed the same thing. I don't think the auction people have a clue what's there.

Re: Antique car and parts auction Oct 27-29 Lynchburg Va.
I intended to go, but the triple whammy of the high priced hotels, gate fee, and the 15% buyers fee was enough to keep me home. I did, however, follow it online and that was excellent. An impressive collection of stuff, but clearly his better vehicles went elsewhere. Some of the prices left me shaking my head. For example, they got $500 for a So-Cal Speed Shop license tag bracket that sells for $12. But that’s one of the reasons people have auctions. It looked to be well run and efficient.
