Default Crank Mounted Fan

Anyone seen one of these. The 3 (three) blade fan was on my '40 when I got it and it worked. "Kube" says that Ford never made them or installed them.! I believe him. (He wrote the Book on "The Forty Ford") I also have the Chrome 6 (six) blade fan which is on the car now, which I understand is the correct fan for a "40 Ford. (Non Chrome)
Has anyone experienced the bolt that holds the crank mounted fan & pulley come loose. You all know what happened next.!! The cross bar on the fender support prevented the pulley from coming off, but not before the fan got into my expensive radiator.!
I have a new Radiator on order and am looking for a replacement 6 (six) blade fan.

Years ago, I bought a NOS fan from "Joblot" in New York for a 1940 60hp. It was a 2 blade fan.

Did someone cut every other blade off? The crank mount fan turned at crank speed so it wasn't a real high rpm set up. I think this is why Ford used so many blades. Flatheads like to be cooled a lot.

Rotor, seems to me anyway, that's exactly what someone did - cut every other blade off.
No doubt, whomever had dome this thought it a good idea. Yikes.

Is the stock fan four blades and truck six or are they all six blades? In my opinion, the six blade unit seems to be quite heavy.

Passenger cars and pickups are 6 blade fans.

And then they thought it a good idea to paint it yellow. Yikes again.

Maybe that was to highlight it as a "safety" item.
