Default Odd brake rods

I'm rebuilding the front axle on my '29 business Coupe and found that both front brake rods are formed like the one in the photo. These aren't bent due to damage but appear to have been formed that way. When connected to the brake actuators they are aimed straight ahead instead of slanting back downward to the brake cross shaft as most do.
Has anyone ever seen front brake rods like these? Or are they just some weird aftermarket ones?
